To prepare for a mental health nursing interview in the NHS, practise talking through real situations: a distressed or agitated service user, someone telling you they feel suicidal, a detained patient who doesn't return from leave, a worried family member on the phone. Panels for Band 5, 6 and 7 posts usually explore your values, your understanding of risk, safety planning and least restrictive practice, the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, physical health monitoring and how you look after yourself and your team.
