To prepare for an inpatient mental health support worker interview, expect questions on building rapport with people who are unwell or detained, carrying out observations safely and respectfully, de-escalation and least restrictive practice, what you would do if a patient told you they wanted to harm themselves, sexual safety, safeguarding and looking after yourself after hard shifts. Panels want warm, practical answers that show you would always tell the nurse in charge, record clearly and treat patients as people first.
